Job Description

1. Fabrication Procedures

• Fabricate and assemble P&O devices including component parts, sockets, and suspension systems as designed by the Ortho-Prosthetist.

• Perform Modelling, Plaster model finishing, Moulding/Lamination, Cutting, Assembling, Shaping, Welding, Machine work and Final Finishing of devices.

• Assist Ortho-Prosthetist in Detail Assessments and Review of Patients fitted with assistive devices.

• Prepare place and patient for casting, negative cast for modelling and positive model for moulding/lamination.

• Assist CPO in Casting and Fitting of P&O Devices to Patients.

• Supervise various fabrication procedures performed by Junior Technicians i-e:

• modelling, moulding, lamination, cutting, shaping, assembling and finishing of P&O devices.

 

2. Adjustments and Repairs

• Perform repair, replacements and adjustments of P&O devices as advised by Ortho-Prosthetist.

• Assists the Ortho-Prosthetist in fitting and aligning activities on patients provided with devices.

• Performs finishing works on prostheses and orthoses, including the use of alignment transfer tools and equipment.

• Performs bench alignment of the device to the specifications of the Category personnel.

• Takes part in follow-up procedures in respect of maintenance, repair and replacement of the appliance.

 

​3. Workshop Maintenance

• Responsible for the care and economical use of Workshop/Lab materials, machinery, tools and equipment’s.

• Manages workshop/Lab activities assigned, including:

• Use and maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment

• Maintenance of safe working environment and procedures

• Appropriate record keeping of inventory and stock control

• Cleaning, Arrangement and Maintenance of all tools, machines, and equipment’s used in the Workshop areas.

 

4. Coordination and Reporting

• Process routine procedures for Works and Maintenance Requisition for executing related activities of the workshop/lab.
