Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Formulation of Treatment

  • Perform routine Consultation and Detail Assessments of Patients to carry out Diagnosis.

  • Formulate Appropriate Prescription in detail (design, material, attributes, etc) for treating physical disability/ functional limitation of the patient.

  • Perform Review and Follow-up of patients already provided with prosthetic/orthotic rehabilitation services.

  • Perform Referral of patients to other Medical Professional deemed as appropriate.

  • Assist and advise on relevant aspects of pre-surgical, post-surgical, medical and therapeutic management of patients requiring P&O devices.

  • Counsel patients and negotiate services provision with them.



  • Take measurements and casting of patients for P&O devices and rectify positive models to obtain optimal fit and alignment.

  • Supervise various fabrication procedures performed by Technicians i-e: modelling, molding, lamination, cutting, shaping, assembling and finishing of P&O devices.

  • Perform fitting, static and dynamic alignment of P&O devices fitted to the patients.

  • Participate in and coordinate gait/functional training of patients fitted with P&O Devices.

  • Supervise, guide and train Junior CPO, Physio and Technicians in their daily assignments.


Quality Control Measures

  • Follow clinical activities as per Physical Rehab Protocol and ensure the services provided adhere to the minimum international standards set by WHO/ISPO.

  • Participate in Quality check of devices during Sending for Finishing and Check Outs.

  • Ensure quality of production and satisfaction of patients.

  • Instruct patient or family in the use and care of device/limb.

  • Conduct Evaluation/ Appraisals for all direct reports and sub-ordinates on a quarterly basis.

Coordination and Reporting

  • Maintain record of clinical activities/services being carried out.

Role Specific requirement

Provide Prosthetic and Orthotic rehabilitation services to persons with physical impairments as per standards set by CF under WHO/ISPO guidelines

Minimum qualification required:

  • Bachelors in Prosthetics & Orthotics; Advanced Courses/Trainings in Prosthetics & Orthotics; 01 Year Practical experience


Detailed Experience required:

  • Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics; Advanced Courses/Trainings in Prosthetics & Orthotics; 06 Months’ Practical experience


Years of experience required:​

  •  02-03 Years of practical experience
